The Research and Advancement Corporation for Atacama’s Paleontology and Natural History (CIAHN Atacama) is a regional non-profit private corporation pursuing the expansion of the scientific research and the valuation of the paleontological patrimony of the region, supporting the growth and positively impacting Atacama’s comprehensive development.
The region of Atacama is recognized by its paleontological wealth: there are areas where people can walk on thousands of fossil bones, which is the case of the Bahía Inglesa Formation.
We think Atacama as a natural lab, as an exceptional space to witness global processes of the history of our planet Earth and the evolution of life.
One of the distinctive features of the region of Atacama is its paleontological patrimony. The dryness has exposed kilometers of rocks ...
In the coast of the region of Atacama there is one of the most important paleontological deposits of Chile and South America
"This is a site on par with Dinosaur National Monument here in the United States, a whole hillside littered with dinosaur skeletons. We seem to have the same thing except with whales here in Chile."
